Deon Young & Dunson shine at BET's Music Matters Showcase
Tuesday night (July 10), New York's top media figures and music lovers were called to Santos Party House in the name of budding talent as BET Music Matters held their monthly showcase that featured artists Dunson and Deon Young. With the Remy V flowing and the music (provided by DJ Lyve of BET's 106 & Park) keeping everyone in the mood for great hip-hop and R&B, it wasn't long before Dunson hit the stage and wowed everyone who was sure to be expecting a singer when he began his set. Performing his take on songs like "Somebody I Used To Know" and John Legend's "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)", the Maryland native's lyrical skills and production selection makes for great party music. He proved this further by performing his single, "Dance To The End", which got the crowd and was a greay segué to the featured artist of the night.
Coming out swinging with his version of Ca$h Out's "Cashin' Out" playing, Deon Young's star power was on ten as he embraced his hometown crowd - pointing out that he hadn't performed in his city all year, so he was certainly looking forward to changing that. Pulling out songs from his previous release, "For The Love", Deon wooed the ladies with "Just Another Love Song" and "Applause". Wrapping up his awesome set, Deon paused for a moment to find a special birthday girl in the audience and serenaded her with a smooth rendition of The Birthday Song. Capping the night off with "Party Life", Deon's falsetto was on full display and it is truly plain to see why this young talent is signed to a label like Epic Records. Before he left the stage for the night, Deon gave a heartfelt acknowledgement to his new label and Sylvia Rhone, whose imprint he was signed to after she was blown away by his "For The Love" mixtape. Sylvia and Epic definitely have something in this budding star and we can't wait to hear more from Deon Young!
