Conor Maynard takes over the US with UK sounds
The UK was kind enough to loan NYC their newest rising star, Conor Maynard, Tuesday evening (July 17) for an introductory showcase at The Gallery at Dream Hotel formally premiering himself to America. With the event's attendees including his die-hard fans (who are officially named Mayniacs) and media figures, EMI Music did a great job of appeasing the diverse crowd - giving away airbrushed hats that read "Vegas Girl", which is Conor's debut US single.
The event kicked off with "Animal", an upbeat song that sent his Mayniacs into a tizzy immediately. Conor's stage presence was strong and evident throughout the night: his hard hitting beats forced Conor to give in to his urge to dance and did a surprisingly impressive Dougie while performing his first UK single "Can't Say No".
Pausing the cause a moment to briefly remind people just how he became an anticipated artist in the industry, Conor sang his cover of Drake's "Crew Love" and "Marvin's Room" - his YouTube covers over the past six years have included songs from Chris Brown, Katy Perry and Ne-Yo and was what jump started his recording career.
Throughout the night, Conor gave his fans great adoration for supporting him over the years and expressed his excitement over showing everyone what his sound is rather than explaining it in words.
Wrapping up his performance, Conor took the crowd to Vegas and from the Mayniacs' reaction "Vegas Girl" is definitely going to be a summer party anthem.
Conor Maynard's debut album, "Contrast", is due in stores July 30th; he's worth taking a listen to as his sound infuses rock elements as well as hip hop intertwined with an impressive falsetto. You won't be disappointed.
