Bridgit Mendler's "Nemesis" EP Is Self-Realization
The second EP from the actress-songwriter Bridgit Mendler has come to fruition. Nemesis follows the radio-friendly Hello My Name Is… and represents the expression of honesty.
"Atlantis" was released as the first single back in late August and "Do You Miss Me At All" followed early this month with a music video being released today. This time around the vibe is definitely set with shimmeringly chilled instrumentals with appropriately subdued and unleashed vocalizations for both of these tracks. Regardless of subject matter, Mendler has a way of using her lyrics to project beautiful imagery. "Atlantis" begins off with the line "deep underwater is where I left my love" and immediately you'll feel the despondency.
The third song, "Library," is a song that features both a delicate lullaby style as well as a forceful, demanding style. The instrumentals, consisting of Wurlitzer-esque electric piano and echoed and reverbed-out guitar strums, create an atmosphere that's one of wonder. On the other hand, "Snap My Fingers" is heavily percussive and fearless and as a result ends the EP off on a high, upbeat note.
In regards to the EP, Mendler had to say:
"I feel like I've poured the most of myself of anything I've done into this project. That's been a very therapeutic process."
