Has becoming a singer always been a dream for you? How did you come to this realization?
Yes, I love singing so much and I have no idea what I would do if it wasn't such a big passion of mine. When I was just a baby I used to sing, or at least try and sing in my diaper with a big hair brush in my hand!
Your voice sounds very developed and you have great control and it sounds effortless. What is your music background? Does music talent run in the family? How did you learn to sing? Do you play any instruments?
Thank you so much! I don't have much musical background, actually. I have taken singing lessons on and off for the past few years, but other than that I just have grown up listening to other singers. My Dad plays the guitar and loves to sing also - so we've always had a lot of fun singing together. I just started taking guitar lessons actually, but I'm still learning! Hopefully I'll continue getting better at it.
What was your reaction when you found out that your cover of Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire" received over 1 million views? Did you think it was going to garnish as much attention as it did? Does this song and/or artist hold any significant meaning for you?
I was extremely excited; I couldn't believe that a simple video that I recorded in my living room could get that many views! I was so happy :) I did not expect that to happen whatsoever so it really took me by surprise! I have always loved Alicia Keys and when I heard that song on the radio, I thought it may be a nice idea to upload a cover of it to YouTube, since I hadn't in a awhile! I love the meaning behind that song, it's very inspirational.
What kind of artist do you want to be? Top 3 favorite artists out now?
I would love to be a Pop Artist! I listen to all different genres of music but I think I fall in to the "Pop" category the most. My favorite artists are Beyonce, Adele, and Ed Sheeran because they are such wonderful singers/musicians that all have such powerful and meaningful music.
If you could have anyone as your mentor, who would it be and why?
I would choose Beyonce because she is such a huge inspiration to me. Her voice is absolutely amazing and she acts with such confidence but is classy at the same time. Her music is so strong and I love listening to her and watching her perform. I love that she's not afraid to do anything!
What projects are you currently working on now and who are you working with? Who would you like to work with?
Because I’m in school right now, I am just focusing on making Vine and YouTube videos. But, I am really excited about my first major project, which should be happening later this year! I am not working with anyone, but I would absolutely love to work with Ariana Grande. I love her voice so much, and I love her style of music!
Singers usually have a hidden talent often not related to music. Do you have one? / What is something interesting about yourself that some people might not know about you?
People may not know that I have danced ever since I was really young, including ballet, jazz, and hip hop. I've always loved to dance as well as sing!
What is it like balancing school and being an artist? How does your life differ from the other teenagers in your school?
It's not too difficult, I haven't had to miss much school yet so there haven’t been any problems! Grades are very important to me so I make sure to keep up with all of my school work! I'm not any different than anyone else, I just really love singing for others and I hope they enjoy listening to my covers :) Everyone at my school is very supportive of me, for the most part haha.
